A pair of bronze Red Devil imps.

The original colour is red but at some stage they had been overpainted with thick black paint probably due to wear. Th

A true pair, they stand on a large toadstool and holding aloft what look like mushrooms.

Removing the black paint,, I found the registered numbers which date them to 1892.

There is a hole to the bottom of the toadstool so presumably they were attached to something else. I really do not know but they are quirky and probably quite rare.

Condition:  The paintwork is worn and you can see areas of the bronze coming through where it is rubbed. There is no damage.

Each is about 18cms height.

Great detail and very unusual. I can find nothing similar.

Will post tracked.
