Publishers Morocco half Leather Binding. Spine is beautifully gilt decorated and stamped with five raised bands. Top edge is gilt. Cloth covered boards with gilt leather corners. Marbled endpapers. Some minor rubbing to front and rear joints.
Six illustrations which include black and white engraved plates signed by the artists.
Nice typography, nice paper. Deckled edges, some remain unseparated. Very small Macdonald-N.Y stamped to upper left corner of first flyleaf. This could be provenance of ownership or printership.
The book has been well cared for and is in fine condition. At 123 years of age, it is clean, tight, and sound. The book is attractive on a shelf and displays a pleasing and unique age patina. Minor shelf wear, though present, is forgivable and easy to overlook.
