Genuine, authentic, original signed War VDA photograph of Kriegsmarine Fregattenkapitaen Erich Topp.

Topp was a highly decorated German War Navy submarine commander during WW2.

During WW2, Topp was known as Commander several U-Boat submarines including the U-57, U-552, U-3010, and U-2513, and is credited with the sinking of 35 enemy ships, one warship sunk and damaging 4 additional ships, in 12 patrols and 352 days at sea!  After the War, he became a Deputy Commander of U Boats in the Bundesmarine and made a Konteradmiral.

Because of his military service, he was awarded the U Boat War Badge with Diamonds and the Iron Cross First and Second Class.

And because of his extreme personal bravery and successful military leadership in combat, Topp was awarded the Knights Cross of the Iron Cross with Oak Leaves and Swords...one of only 147 soldiers to be so honored during the War!  He was also mentioned 3 times in the Wehrmachtbericht!...to be mentioned one time as a high honor!

The War vintage VDA Daehler Verlag sepia postcard size photograph shows Topp wearing his Knights Cross Oak Leaves and Swords award and he has signed his full name signature across the lower portion in black fountain pen ink with listing of his U Boat Commands below, postwar.  I purchased this from the Petersen Collection who eariier purchased the entire collection of WW2 author and scholar Roger Bender.  The signed foto is in very good condition.
