* Over 10 YEARS EXPERIENCE propagating, growing, and shipping beautiful marine macro algae species for reef aquaria.

* All algae is propogated in dedicated custom, PEST FREE grow out tanks.

* All cuttings are taken professionally from the main thallus of F1 donor plants, whose age can be verified. Donor plants are correctly rotated seasonally to allow for dormant periods and control the chance of cuttings undergoing sexual reproduction and death that can ultimately lead to harmful nutrient spikes in the recipients aquaria

* All algae is FULLY HEALED and RESTED for a MINIMUM of 2 weeks prior to shipping

* I absolutely WILL NOT risk my REPUTATION  by sending unviable 'clippings' taken from the practice of  chopping back and pruning old donor plants!

* POSTAGE :  Prepared  cuttings will be double bagged in high gauge bags and sealed with sufficient water and activated carbon pellets to stop water fouling. Bags will be suitably insulated and packed into a heavy-duty envelope box. In this manner, cuttings will stay healthy and viable for a minimum of 4 days, even in the harshest weather. Postage is via Royal Mail first class Mondays - Thursdays.  (I will not skimp on packing and water to save money on postage costs!)

* FULL DEAD ON ARRIVAL GUARANTEE (Subject to a photograph if the algae on arrival)

For the purpose of this listing

You will receive a mixed species cutting of Hypnea pannosa and Gracillaria mammarilis, growing intertwined together.

The size of this mat will be around 5cmx5cm . It will have been rested up after taking to ensure there is no alginic acid leakage back into the main thallus that could kill the algae.

These 2 algae species often grow together, forming tight knitted plates of red and blue fronds.

You will receive cuttings taken from my main holdfast  mat, as seen in the first and second images of the series. (These also give an idea of the size of cutting you will recieve.)

These 2 species grown together, as well as providing a gorgeous contrast in colours, provide possibly the best haven for helpful micro critters available.

Perfect to encourage breeding and provide a safe haven for copepods, amphipods, and micro brittlestars!

I grow plates of these 2 algaes in the sump of my aquaria housing mandarins to encourage a constant supply of copepods to breed amongst the algae fronds.

Photographs are taken under 80 white/blue, and no post processing has taken place aside from cropping images. I DO NOT use stock images. All images are taken from my own aquaria.

I will not send poorly taken unviable cuttings!!

THE ALGAE SPECIES:

These combined beautiful,  tropical marine macro algae species are moderate to care for, providing a stunning display piece and excellent Nitrate/Phosphate removal for your marine aquarium as well as a great safe haven to encourage organisms to increase your aquariums biological index and diversity.

Growth is moderate to fast once settled

These species will initially settle and attach to rockwork  before they begin to put on growth in lateral plates and develop the characteristic blue colour of the blue hypnea, amongst the flame red of the G.mammarilis

--PLEASE BE AWARE : On receipt of your cutting the blue hypnea will most likely appear translucent grey in colour, only once settled will it develop its deep blue colour, the same goes for if you move the algae in your tank, it often adopts its more sombre colours once disturbed for a few days.

Simply, gently attach the cutting to a small piece of rock with an elastic band  on arrival. Be very careful not to crush the frond ball  of the blue hypnea too much as this algae is highly calcified and extremely brittle.

Cuttings will be fully healed and actively growing.

Postage will be via royal mail first class tracked 24 , the size will be slim enough to fit through a standard letterbox so you do not have to be in to accept delivery, however confirmation of delivery will be recorded.

Dispatch only takes place Monday-Thursday.

Please feel free to browse my other algae, coral, and livestock listings.

Many thanks.
