One of the reasons I polish almost all the silver I sell is because tarnish can hide flaws. Take this spoon, for example. I thought it was excellent until polishing revealed a tear at the base of the handle. (Please examine pictures closely). This spoon is now retired. Use it for display only. (Brian, this spoon is not for you!) 

Other than that, the spoon is in pretty good shape and the silver is very beautiful. It is 7 inches long and weighs 26 grams. It was made in the shop of William Garret Forbes in New York City around the turn of the century.
