Ludlow is a beautiful Shropshire market town close to the Welsh border with a dramatic ruined castle at the end of the main street. Each year it would hold a two week festival and the centre piece of the Festival would be a Shakespeare play. Guests would be encouraged to dress up and look their smartest and most would picnic in the castle grounds prior to the performance of the play which would be acted within the ruined walls of the castle. A wonderful evening and atmosphere was created.

These 4 programmes/brochures not only detail all the actors and contributors to the Shakespeare plays but also all the other events that were taking place over the two weeks of the Ludlow Festival. The programmes feature "Romeo and Juliet" in 1986, "King Lear" in 1996, "Much Ado About Nothing" in 1997 and "Hamlet" in 1998.

As one looks back at those appearing many well know names, such as Jenny Seagrove and Toyah Willcox appear, but none more so than the controversial Mandy Rice-Davies playing Lady Capulet, Juliet's mother, in 1996.

These programmes are in immaculate condition and real collectors' items, particularly if you like Shakespeare or come from Ludlow.
