Japanese Natural Whetstone Unzen 2179g - Grit #1000 from Kumamoto pref. Japan

Description

This is a Jnat called Unzen from Kumamoto Prefecture.
The current quarry in Binsui, where we have been selling these stones, has been affected by the Kumamoto earthquake in 2016, which has loosened the ground and is now mining difficult, we start selling Unzen. The Unzen's quarry is similar to Amakusa and Binsui, and the grit size is generally around #800-#1000, with a sharpening feeling rather similar to Amakusa. Nevertheless, the slurry is better than Amakusa and it somewhat similar to Natsuya or Numata. A thirsty stone, it is recommended to sprinkle enough water before sharpening or add water little by little while sharpening. The abrasive power is also close to that of Natsuya. Unzen can be sharpened on any surface and is a highly versatile stone. Please note that these are not for beginner sharpeners since they're harder to use. These are natural stones meaning that every single one of them are different so my measured size are not accurate. This is a life time investment for people who lives sharpening their knives and tools, do not hesitate to ask me your questions.
