Complete set of William Shakespeare works and biography in portable volumes that include many interpretative essays, offering surprisingly rich scholarship for such a decorative edition. Each Shakespeare play includes a preface by Israel Gollancz of King's College usually beginning with a descriptive bibliographic reference and statement of authority about the text the volume will use and reflections on the various editions we know. Here you will find controversies over various versions of Shakespeare's work. That's followed by literary introduction by a rotating cast of scholars with expertise in individual plays. Usually short vignettes with references to more complete work. Also included, a Life of Shakespere.
