Louis XIV (1638-1715) was also known as Louis the Great or the Sun King. His reign of 72 years and 110 days (1643-1715) was the longest of any sovereign. He believed in the “divine right of kings” and ended the feudal system in France. He forced uniformity in the Catholic Church forcing Protestants to “love it or leave it”. France became the most powerful European country and included Spain in its dominance. He was an iconic ruler and this is one of the scarce silver coins from that era. Poor Richards Coins & Collectibles; where history comes to life!
