This 3 by 5 inch calling card with photo is for the Reverend Daniel Brooks at 410 E. Washington Street in High Point, North Carolina. Brooks was a minister and  leader of the African American community in High Point, North Carolina. Born in 1837 as a free African American, he lived until 1933. He founded the Fairview Street Methodist Episcopal Church, now called Brooks memorial in his honor and served as its pastor until 1909. He remained active in the state Methodist Conference for many years. He was active throughout his life in improving education for African Americans in High Point. One of the first housing projects in the city was named in his honor. The card is lightly toned but in good condition.
