Victorian 19thC English copper jam pan/preserve pan, with cast bronze handles. Deep cleaned, polished and ready for service.

A good size and well made, there are lots of surface wear and marks, but it is still perfectly good for use and will still last generations. Full of character and good on display inbetween uses.
The base has a wobbles to it and one deeper scratch which doesn't effect the inside of the pan, it sits flat and there are no big dents.

Cast bronze handles are well shaped and comfortable to use, with rounded baseplate design. Held solidly with flat top copper rivets, the copper is of a standard gauge for English jam pans at around 1mm.
The wired turned rim adds strength and would have been put in by hand, while the pan itself would have been pressed first, in victorian industrial machinery.

Weight: 2.305kg

Excellent for making jam and jelly, crank up the heat and watch it reduce, no stirring needed, no sticky or burnt spots. Dissolve the sugar, fruit & water in a separate tin lined pan first (other linings are available) then transfer to the jam pan once its mixed well and boil away.

Will need a hot soapy scrub and your usual jam pan prep before use. Just to remove any leftover polishing residue (this black residue can highlight any imperfections and will wash off with hot soapy water), it does keep a bit of protection on the surfaces before use.

Please study photographs carefully as they form an important part of the description. All my items are vaccume wrapped after tinning/polishing until they are posted, so they reach you in as good a condition as possible!
