I am a cassette deck fan for life and have owned some of the finest cassette decks in the world over time from the mighty nakamichi 1000ZXL , DRAGON , CR-7 To REVOX B710 and 215 cassette deck but there 2 heads cassette decks which better the performance of some of the more hi end 3 heads cassette deck the Nakamichi 480 is one and This TEAC V-5RX is another .
After I got it serviced recently which consisted of removing the whole high quality well built 3 motor tape transport apart , new mode and capstan belt installed , the rubber idler and counter belt were found in excellent condition this example was used sparingly and well cared for by the original audiophile owner’s estate sale from where it was purchased, further every single switch and potentiometer cleaned with deoxit5 fader lube , the sound blew me away! You too will be impressed ! The sound with dbx and Maxwell MX-C90 metal is some of the best I have ever heard from a cassette deck 3 heads or 2 heads. TEAC did something right with this model . I was attracted by its very cool rare among TEAC cassette decks the vertical high quality VU meters. You can record from both microphones and line as well . The input and output cables are permanently attached making losing them next to impossible . This is one cool liking cassette deck and performance to match it
