Here we have a beautiful antique Trade knife, from the 1870's.  A medium sized knife, with dark wood scales, beautifully decorated with brass domed tacks, a favorite style of Native adornment of their prized items.  Here you can see, an area where a brass tack being driven in, caused the dense dark wood handle to split, and so a repair was made with a few extra brass tacks, (disrupting the neat pattern intended).  Nevertheless, a fantastic utilitarian tool or defensive piece, a treasure from the High Plains and West. The blade shows no sign of original maker markings.  10" long.
