You're bidding on "An Inside View Of The Rotundo In Ranelagh Gardens" - 19 1/4" X 13 3/4" total size, 15 3/4" X 10 1/4" within the platemarks - published 1794 by Laurie & Whittle, London. Particularly known as map & atlas makers, Laurie & Whittle assumed the business of noted London publisher Robert Sayer after his death in 1794.

Ranelagh Gardens at the time was a large pleasure garden, with reflecting pools and a Chinese pavilion - developed in the 1740s to compete with Vauxhall. The Rotunda, a large rococo structure designed for music performance, was the centerpiece of Ranelagh, notably hosting a nine-year-old Mozart. The Rotunda was demolished in 1805, and the park was redeveloped in the 19th century into the humbler green space of today.

This is a circa 1750 view of Windsor Castle from the Thames River, re-published in 1794 as part of a series of London views by the firm.

NOTE some issues of condition - mainly foxing/spotting - largely in the margin area, some foxing evident within the image at top-right and a large spot at right edge on the platemark. Also some minor edge bumping/chipping/tears. SOLD AS IS AS FOUND.

Retains decent presentation and appeal, though, and a rare to find 18th century view in any condition. Please review photos carefully to make your own determination of condition and appeal, and don't hesitate to ask any questions prior to bidding - thanks for looking!
