SASS EMPORIA are delighted to offer this beautiful handmade ceramic pitcher vase produced by Topferhof Gramann in the town of Romhild in the former East Germany. The pottery studio was established by sculptor and master potter Karl Gramann, yet the growth in art pottery production was largely due to his son Siegfried who from 1948 established the company name Topferhof Gramann. All items are carefully handmade thrown from high quality clay into modern beautifully balanced forms. The glaze decors were consistent adopting a reliable colour palette of soft blues, greys, greens, pinks and lemons. Glazes were mostly lava-like with a dense uniform bubbling appearance, some often resembling a ray skin like finish. In this wonderful example we see a pitcher shaped vessel, decorated in a subtle blue-grey pumice-like matte glazed finish that coats the vessel in uniform fashion. Gramann pieces are becoming increasingly appreciated because of their quality handmade execution and matte glazed decors that are very fitting for todays styling trends!
