ITEM : 1983 Los Angeles Dodgers Starter Satin Baseball Jacket Adult Medium 1980s 80s *READ*… this jacket is distressed from stains, tears and the original Starter zipper pull is no longer included. Both pockets have holes, see pictures.

I am the original owner of this jacket, Steve Garvey is my favorite player, and there is a bit of a story to the jacket as I wore it proudly to watch my Dodgers play the New York Mets on May 21, 1983. Sadly, the game was a rain out. Because the tickets were a gift for my confirmation, my Dad decided to have us go wait outside the stadium where players would come out. Pedro Guerrero was the first and he offered to sign the cuff of my jacket, but the ballpoint pen did not work. he said it doesn’t work kid… and I offered my program for him to sign instead.

Minutes later, another player walked by who I didn’t recognize for a moment, realizing it was former rookie of the year Steve Howe. I quickly walked up to him, and in the process I saw him trip himself in a large puddle of water from the heavy rains. He abruptly turned around and said “get the F ** K away from me you F ** King kid.”

I immediately walked back to my father and told him let’s go home as I could not process one of my heroes to talk to me that way. I was silent most of the way home in tears, until my father noticed something was wrong, and I told him what it happened.

The following month Steve Howe was placed on probation for the first time and was suspended later in the year by the commissioner of baseball. I forgave him a long time ago, and was extremely saddened the day he passed away.
