Meissen Watteau Scene & Castle Floral Bugs Rococo Wall Bracket Shelf C.1774-1817

Fabulous large porcelain relief molded Rococo scroll wall bracket / wall shelf. Decorated with a hand painted Georgian / Colonial courting couple of a woman in a pink gown with red underskirt and white neck ruff, and a man in a brown outfit with a white neck ruff. They are surrounded by foliage and trees, with what appears to be a grey castle tower behind then. With hand painted bright puce, aqua and gold gilt highlights. There is a small purple flower above the scene and orange flowers below. With a small bug at the bottom of the scroll. With hand painted small flowers and bugs going up the sides and underneath the top. The top of the shelf has large hand painted pink, orange, yellow, blue and purple flowers. Marked on the back with the blue crossed swords mark with a star underneath, used by
royal Meissen between 1774 and 1817. There is also either a fancy B or a a JB incised on the inside underneath the top.

Has some wear to the gilding. Also has an approximately 2 1/4 inch in manufacture hairline crack approximately an inch underneath of the top of the bracket, extending from an in manufacture firing defect on the inside of the piece. However the crack is visible on the outside upon close inspection. Does not appear to have any other chips or cracks. A beautiful piece!

Measures approximately 10 1/2 inches wide x 13 inches tall x 7 1/2 inches from front to back.

This is an antique and may have small in manufacture defects that do not affect the display of the piece.
