SASS EMPORIA are delighted to offer this striking multi-lava glazed ceramic vase produced by Bay Keramik of Germany. Based in the town of Ransbach, the family operated pottery was founded by Eduard Bay in 1933 where it grew to become one of the 'big-four' (Bay, Carstens, Scheurich and Ruscha) high-volume producing West German manufacturers over the three decades from the 1950's to the 1970's.

This highly collectable decor called Turkis from the late 1960's features a thick plasticine-like turquoise blue glaze that oozes dramatically over the exterior of this ovoid shaped vessel. A deep graphite coloured matte underglaze is revealed through random flowing lavalike streaks accentuated with big bursting bubbles and moon-like craters. For those fat lava collectors that are inspired by the bright and unusual, this spectacular offering by Bay, will do nothing but impress!
