Selling a lightly used custom computer setup (literally, used once a month at most for a few hours). The idea was to use it as a media server for the Playstation 3 (music and video streaming to the console via the local network). I was looking for the smallest possible case, which could accommodate some extras. All of the components were carefully selected to make the most of the hardware at the time and still keep within the reasonable budget (roughly 2014 when I first started the project). Please read through the specs carefully.

In the end the case was filled as much as possible, to get the most out of every usable inch of space. This is the such case I am aware of that houses 4x3.5" HDDs, including the regular DVD-RW drive and having the SSD drive for the OS. The 4x HDDs were run as 2x RAID 1 (two mirrored pairs), giving me 4 TB of data storage. You can easily use the space any way you want, including having all 8 TB as a RAID 0, JBOD or having them as individual drives without the RAID controller The RAID controller is on the motherboard, which supports up to 6 SATA devices (currently, all of them are in use).

The HTPC build consist of:
  • CPU: AMD Phenom II X4 925 (AM3 socket)
  • Graphics Card: Integrated ATI Radeon HD3200, 256 MB
  • Motherboard: uATX ASUS M4A78-VM (specs: https://www.asus.com/my/Motherboards/M4A78VM/)
  • RAM: 4GB (2x2GB) A-Data Extreme DDR2 800+ PC2-6400 (with heatsinks)
  • Storage: 1x 60GB G.Skill Phoenix Pro SSD; 4x 2TB Western Digital Caviar Green
  • Power Supply: XFX XPS-450W-SEW (80+)
  • CPU Cooler: Coolermaster Vortex Plus (specs: https://www.coolermaster.com/catalog/coolers/cpu-air-coolers/vortex-plus/)
  • Case: Aerocool M40 (review: http://www.thebestcasescenario.com/forum/showthread.php?13692-Review-Aerocool-M40-Cube-case-by-DrumThumper)
  • Optical drive: ASUS DRW 24B3LT - DVD±RW (±R DL) (specs: https://www.cnet.com/products/asus-drw-24b3lt-dvdrw-r-dl-dvd-ram-drive-serial-ata-series/)
  • Extras: D-Link DGE‑528T Copper Gigabit PCI Card (specs: https://eu.dlink.com/uk/en/products/dge-528t-dge-528t-copper-gigabit-pci-card-for-pc), PCI slot cooling fan speed control dial (control up to 3 fans), one large cooling fan facing the front (positioned to extract air form the case)
  • Operating System: none
The Aerocool M40 case has a neat "party-trick", it can open sideways like a car hood, to allow for easier access on the second level (including a kick-stand that is located on the side). It has a backlit display that shows the HDD status and the inner temperature. Originally red-backlit, I've replaced thee LEDs with blue ones (it matched better with the rest of the equipment in the vicinity). The case can accommodate a mATX motherboard, nothing larger. I've added two extra 3.5" HDDs with a slight tweak, please examine the photos (no changes to the case itself). This case is as rare as it gets. There is only one defect that I recently noticed - the front top panel is a rubber-plastic blend, and like similar surfaces, it started to get sticky to the touch (ageing process). I know there are liquids/solvents to remedy this, I won't be touching it to avoid making it worse than it actually is. There are 3 more places where you can place the smaller cooling fans on the back side of the case.

There is a new CMOS battery on the motherboard. The motherboard has 3 different video outputs (VGA, DVI & HDMI), including the 5.1 & optical S/PDIF audio and a PS/2 Keyboard/Mouse Combo port. Supports up to 12 USB 2.0 ports. Supports overclocking. A lot of features on-board.

Mechanically and electronically everything is in full working order.

This is now an outdated setup, however it is still running Windows 7 nicely (should manage Windows 10 as well). You can use this as a starting point and update as you go. Basically, you can easily have a 1x TB SSD, and 4x 10TB drives in something that looks nice as a HiFi component and can easily blend in your living room, office or any other suitable location, while still having an optical drive.

The HDDs were data-wiped, ready to install a fresh OS, since there will be no OS installed on the computer. The power cord supplied will have an EU-style plug. The case itself comes with a few extras (HiFi-style legs, extra double fan mounting plate, user manual, 1x blanking PCI plate).

Please examine the photos for the details, this is the actual condition of the computer setup being sold.

I can arrange other methods like DHL, UPS on demand and extra cost). Private seller, selling as-is, no returns. Looking forward to a quick sell.
