This is an antique Hardcover of The Army of the United States (2 Volumes) and Uniform of the Army of the United States (1 Volume) by Henry Loomis Nelson and H.A. Ogden

Volume I is split into two: one volume with the text, the second (portfolio) with 44 loose color plates illustrating U.S. Army uniforms from 1774 to 1888. Volume II (another portfolio) contains loose plates XLV to XLVII with uniforms from 1898 to 1900 as well as plates I-XXIII with uniforms from 1902 to 1907. 

Vol. I has the complete 71 pages of text and 41 out 44 plates (missing No. 4, No. 12  and No. 28). Vol. II has 24 plates, Numbered 45-47 (There are Doubles of No. XLV and XLVI) and 1-23 (No. 10 is Missing)
