A superb Victorian wall mounted coco de mer box and gilt brass coat hook, the nut with a highly polished patina, has a hinged ebonized cover with a mounted brass border around the top, and a leaf which swings freely covering the middle of the nut, reminiscent of the Biblical Eve. This fine coco de mer box and coat hook are mounted on an oak shield and the piece is in excellent overall condition measuring 13 ¾ inches in length.
