Today we are pleased to offer for sale a wonderful antique French cartel clock!

This handsome clock dates from the late 1800's and is very finely crafted and detailed. This large piece is 30" tall and done in the neoclassical Louis XVI style. The clock features a heavy gilt bronze ormolu cast frame with intricate neoclassical detailing, featuring an architectural frame with grille work and adorned with a lion head draped emanating from the sides of the clock, which feature goat head ornamentation, with leafed finials adorning the bottom and to of each side; the top of the clock features a fruit topiary. The top and sides of the clock feature decorative bronze grille work. The clock features a white enameled face with bold Roman numerals and glass cover with bronze hinged frame. The back of the clock is covered with a thin sheet of brass and features a heavy duty mounting bracket and access panel. The clock has not been tested but it retains its movement and pendulum. This elegant piece will add French grandeur and style to any fine interior. It will be professionally packaged and boxed for safe transit. 

The clock is in good antique condition, with wear and patina commensurate with age and use. The clock case has minor surface wear, tarnish/oxidation, light scuffing, minor loss to gilt and patina. There are scattered casting flaws/pockmarks, minor casting holes/cracks, most of which are not immediately noticeable and do not detract from the look of the clock. The glass clock face is intact with minor scratching however its hinge is damaged. The clock face has various hairlines and minor flakes. The back of the clock is missing a few screws. The movement is un-tested and we do not know if it works, the pendulum is included but there is no key. The clock is sold AS-FOUND so please be sure to review all photos. It is not perfect but it is still quite a statement piece and a great bargain.
