Ukrainian/Canadian realist artist Peter (Petro) Magdenko's (1922-2002) "The Homecoming" is a signed oil painting on heavy paperboard. Produced in 1961, this medium-sized piece measures 32.5". in width/length, and 27" in height - including the large retro. frame (18" x 24" canvas size; raised frame around canvas extends 2" out from flat frame - box shadow effect). Framed and handmade, the painting features a typical native peasant returning to his village, in a folk-art style. This unique piece is perfect for collectors of historic Ukrainian folk art, and post-impressionist style of art which this artist practised. Magdenko comes from a well known Ukrainian family from both the Poltava and Dnipropetrovsk regions involved in art, theatre, farming, and literature. Once having left Munich, Germany after the 2nd World War, the artist settled in Toronto, ON and its environs. Exhibited in Toronto, Ottawa, U.S.A., and a free Ukraine.
