Lot# 11. Mata Ortiz Pottery "signed by Marta Hernandez", Measures 6 1/2” wide x 5 1/4” tall and weighs 22.9 ounces. No cracks or chips. This pot also comes with a Mata Ortiz pottery ring.  The form and design of this pot was created by Martha Hernandez, as a contemporary, yet very similar representation of incense burners uncovered from archeology digs at the Anazazi ruins of Paquime, near her village of Mata Ortiz.  This was a village, doomed to disappear off the map when the railroad no longer came through. That is, until her people began to make and sell their beautiful hand-made clay pots without use of a potter's wheel, in the same way the ancient Anazazi began to do after the year 750 AD.   I pack and ship very well and insured.  See photos
