SASS EMPORIA are delighted to offer this wonderful multi-lava glazed ceramic large baluster shaped vase produced by Scheurich of Germany. Still in operation today, and based in the Bavarian town of Kleinheubach, Scheurich were the most prolific producers of mid-century German ceramics. Scheurich offered a solid production program of classically proportioned forms and an endless array of exciting decors, that are highly collected today.

In this example, we see the second generation form of the 209-18 released in the late 1960's. A slender tapered cylinder vase with a chimney style opening lip. A form most likely designed by Franz Karl, it pairs well with the form 206-26 that resembles similar appealing proportions. Decorated in a vibrant gloss red double banding, that is contrast with a warm red, almost chocolate under-based lava glaze. This is quintessentially Scheurich, a highly recognisable classic form with a stunning decor to match!
