WELL USED WILLIAM OPTICS ZENITHSTAR 71 ED DOUBLET F/5.9 REFRACTOR CIRCA 2007

This was my primary astrophotography scope for ~5 years, I bought it secondhand in decent condition. Please read this entire description for an accurate understanding of this telescope's condition and what you are buying.

Included in this purchase are:
- William Optics Zenithstar 71 OTA
- 0.8x flattener/reducer Flat 6-A
- Flat 6-A adapter (for GT81 & Canon EOS)
- 3D-printed (I think) Bahtinov Mask for 71mm refractor
- William Optics red-dot sight - untested (needs battery)
- William Optics Z71 carry case.

The zenithstar 71 has been a good performer to me, but note that the lens could use a good cleaning. It has some dew marks, dust that won't come off just from air blowing on it, some streaking (also probably from dew), etc. I have included many photos of the lens for you to look at, but note that some marks/blemishes do not show up well even with flash. That said, none of this has ever impacted it's astrophotography abilities and will have even less impact if you are buying this as a portable visual scope.

I believe this is the 2007 model of this scope (based on the warranty card, which expired in ~2009). Note that it WILL NOT easily fit a ZWO EAF system without some additional machining.

The only modifications I have made to this scope in the time of ownership is applying a new layer of felt to the dew shield to prevent it from slipping down when pointed towards zenith. It is otherwise in good shape. The dovetail rail is fairly scuffed, as expected for a heavy use instrument.

You will need to add some spacers to reach a flat field with the flattener, the included adapter is not enough by itself.

Red dot sight has never been tested. Needs a battery for sure, not sure what kind.

Carry case is in good shape and holds the scope and all included accessories well during travel.

This is a good telescope for someone who is interested in learning astrophotography with intent to upgrade in the future, or for someone who just wants a beater to take camping and whatnot.

Please reach out with any questions.
