Up for grabs is an opportunity to buy a really unique typewriter. I became a Smith Corona dealer in 1972 and was an Aughorized dealer till they went bankrupt. I have never seen one of these and actually never even heard of it. They made this model in the 60s. It is basically the same mechanical typewriter they made from the 50s till the discontinued Classic 12 in the 90s. In the documentary "California Typewriter" Tom Hanks says this is his favorite typewriter. That is saying a lot when you look at the excellent Olympia and Hermes typewriters of the era. It is in really excellent condition. Shows almost no signs of wear. I've worked on many, many hundreds of these models and know exactly what to look for. I've stripped it down and washed in our 50 year old chemical cleaning tanks. Cleaned down to the bear metal and lubricated. Not a hint of corrosion anywhere. The paint is excellent. Looking at it while typing the paint is very close to perfect. In the back where it loads into the case there is paint chipped away. Other small imperfections but really nice looking. Everything functions perfectly. I am tone deaf and know absolutely nothing about writing music so I need you to look carefully at the characters on the paper and on the keybuttons. I installed a new ribbon and it seems to print perfectly. I was surprised to see many normal features stripped away. There no ribbon lift adjustment since some of the characters are very tall. There is no touch control. There is no margins or bell. No linespace lever or detent to click when you roll in the paper. I'm sure it is easier to write music on the computer but for some i believe this old fashion method would prove to be more productive. No distractions. Includes the original carrying case. The case cleaned up nice but has a big dent. Works fine though. You just need to be a little more careful latching the case. Money back if not excellent. Free shipping to 48 states.
