Presented is an impressive Royal Worcester Majolica vase. This piece dates to
around the 1870s. The vase is very ornate and eye-catching, red with a marbled
pattern and gold decoration, with raised white scenes of butterflies and foliage
on one side and a swallow in flight on the other, all very detailed and well
done. The handles of the vase are a rich cobalt blue, done in the form of
stylized elephants with gilt detailing and turquoise color rings held in their
trunks. The vase stands on an (attached) base in dark and medium blue, with gilt
edging.

The vase is in great overall condition. There is some minor wear to the
gilding around the base. There are no chips, no cracks, no breaks, and no
repairs.

The underside is signed under the glaze with the Royal Worcester mark, as
well as an incised number 221.

The vase stands about 11 3/8 inches tall and measures about 5 5/8 inches at
the widest point.
