This charming sculpture has been meticulously hand carved from hardwood. It depicts a scene of two joyous children riding on the back of a water buffalo. Likely dating to the mid-19th century, this sculpture captures the essence of rural Chinese life as well as a general harmony between humans and nature. The sculpture is brown with warm undertones. Close inspection reveals intricate detailing—from the texture of the buffalo to the design of the detachable wooden base.

This sculpture would make a unique addition to a personal collection or a meaningful gift to a loved one, young or old. It would be particularly suitable for a person who can appreciate Chinese art, history, and/or artisan goods.
