1837 Chester Cathedral England Lobby View Color Antique Print
This is a beautiful almost 2 centuries old original, colored engraving of Chester Cathedral. This view is Drawn by Garland & Engraved by B. Winkles for Winkles Cathedrals. Excellent detail. The print has a nicely printed legend that is covered by the forest green mat. I did not want to disturb the matting. See note below.
Excellent line detail and beautiful, subtle colors. A fine print. These cathedrals show fantastic architecture with great windows and door and spires and arches.
Scene depicts a lobby view of Chester Cathedral great arches, pews, in the scene. Container for Holy Water on left?
NOTE: This print is sold for print value only. It was purchased as part of a group lot in London. I did not mat these. The print is un-backed and is taped to hardboard at top and under mat (typical for UK print dealers). It is NOT to U.S. dimensions. You would either have to re-mat it or (and I did this on others from the collection) use it with a 8 x 10 mat to produce a frameable double matted print.
Measurements: Image is approx 4.25" x 6" matted to slightly less than 8" by less than 10"
