“Security”, tells the story of a compartmentalised government physicist ordered by secret police to complete experiments aimed at developing a new weapon. He is brought to a hidden space station and put in charge of the project but there are many questions. In a world of spies watching spies it’s sometimes hard to know what’s patriotic. -- Poul Anderson was a Golden Age Science Fiction and Fantasy author. “Security” first appeared in the magazine “Space Science Fiction” in February of 1953 The Burning Bridge Fleet Captain Joshua Coffin leads a cast of characters fleeing an unforgiving and unyielding Earth, to settle a colony around a far-away star. But just as they are reaching 'the point of no return,' they receive a short message from Earth indicating that things are settling down and giving them the choice of perhaps returning home instead of fleeing into the desperate unknown.
