This is great set of 3 strings voiced specifically for Cigar Box Guitars. This set of strings is intended for use on instruments with a standard scale length similar to modern acoustic guitars (in the range of 24-26" nut to bridge), and are intended to be tuned to a high "Open G" tuning (G B D) or "Standard Guitar" tuning (G B E - the same as the three highest-pitch strings on a standard guitar). The string sizes (from largest to smallest) are .022" Bronze Wound, .014" Plain Steel and .010" Plain Steel.

Open G is a great setup for slide (fretless) playing, and the standard guitar tuning is great for a fretted instrument - you can play the "top" portion of most guitar chords with just a couple of fingers! These are lighter-gauge strings, better for instruments that aren't going to be played as heavily - or those that don't have strong, reinforced necks! These strings will work fine fully acoustic (no amp), with piezo pickups and even with magnetic pickups, since the string cores are steel.

Recycled Materials... We use recycled cardboard as packaging materials whenever possible. Those of you who care about the environment can appreciate the value of this, and everyone can appreciate the fact that it helps keep our prices lower since we don't have to buy new cardboard for packaging. This may mean that our packaging materials occasionally show some shipping scuffs, labels, printing or other markings, but used cardboard does the job just fine. Hopefully you will find a way to recycle it on your end too!
