This set includes 3 parallel spacers for making standard size 7mm pens and includes 4 cones for making larger diameter pens, like fountain pens with barrel diameters of between 7.5 - 12mm. The shaft length is adjustable by means of an additional locknut and Allen key, supplied with the kit, allowing pens of different lengths to be turned, or for two parts to be turned at the same time. An instruction leaflet is also included with the kit.

Some notes about Morse taper sizes

The Morse Taper is the "hollow tapered hole" in the centre of the Headstock and in the Tailstock of Lathes (as well as some Pillar drills and Milling machines). Morse tapers are made to common diameter sizes with a universally recognised standard tapered profile. A Morse taper fitting is standard on just about every lathe made in the world since the 1950's.

Morse Tapers come in eight sizes. The taper size is normally identified by a single digit ranging from 0 to 7 (0 being the smallest). The words Morse Taper are commonly abbreviated to the letters MT, or MK in Europe (Morse Kone), A MT1 or a MK1 is a Morse Taper Number 1.  MT2 or a MK2 being a Morse Taper Number 2.  

It is fairly easy to identify which MT size you need by simply measuring the hole diameter in your tail stock. The approx Morse Taper hole size is written below, but if you are not sure then please send me a message.

MT1 = 12mm    MT2 = 18mm   MT3 = 24mm 

MT1 & MT2 are the most popular sizes.
