Item for Sale

Large Japanese Emperor Doll from Meiji period (1852-1912), originally part of Girls Day Hina Doll Set. Highly unusual for its size, this doll measures 13" high, 18" wide, and 9.5" deep. Extremely detailed fabric including outer gown with a pattern of phoenix on a purple a gold background. Face made of gofun over wood (gofun is crushed oyster shell coating), hands are of painted wood, and the gown is made of silk. Very collectible, and shows very well.

Doll is in very good condition for its age. A few minor flaws include a one missing finger tip of wooden hands (see photos), and several minute hairline fractures near the ear and chin (shown in photos as well).
