HAPPY BIRTHDAY CARD featuring the painting
STIRLING DEPARTURE - Peppercorn A2 class locomotive 60532 "Blue Peter" by Eric Bottomley GRA
One of the finest steam locomotives ever built in Britain, the A2 Class, designed by Arthur Peppercorn were also one of the most powerful. This was to be proven time and again on Scottish rails as the best survivors of steam on the Eastern and Midland regions were combined. The sight of these terrific locomotives shall never be forgotten by those lucky enough to see one.
To this day it is possible to see a locomotive of the class on the Main Line, the engine shown here, 60532 Blue Peter, which was eventually withdrawn from traffic in 1966.
Eric Bottomley's card shows the engine giving her all as she departs from Stirling.
