Mint condition - IP's and all, this is not your carnival mid-way airshow patch junk, this is the Real McCoy designed and order by an active duty military unit, approved by the CO and CAG, and worn proudly on the uniforms, flightsuits, jackets, and helmet bags of thousands of military personnel worldwide. This patch was sold in limited quantities selected military exchanges through out the world. - Authentic - Mint Condition - Pristine & Clean - Rare - Collectors item - Sealed backing - FANTASTIC DETAILING - 4 " diameter MOVE FAST- DOUBLE TIME; BEFORE THEY ARE GONE ! This is an extremley rare patch since it was created by the engineers at the Grumman Iron Works at Beth Page Long Island, NY and had a very limited circulation. They were principally distributed by Grumman by mailing a dozen or so to the CO of each active duty A-6 Squadron - yea ! like they made it out of the XO's office. Given such a number vs the 50-60 guys/gals in the squadron - most CO's were very democratic and gave them to the crews with the best landing and mission scores. There were also a few that made the rounds at Int'l airshows were Grumman had a Cat or two and at Tail Hook. I got my first 2 the old fashion way - by sucking up to an old friend at Grumman. Picked up a few other at disestablishmnets ceremonies for VA-35 and VA-196, but then traded those away. So we are down to a precious 2 patches, and I have never seen them anywhere else. They are so rare that patch rip off artists can't even get a copy - even if they wanted to honor the old bird. This wasn't the end of the A-6 era, just the 25th which ran from the first one being delivered to the Navy via the east coast RAG, VA-42, The Green Pawns, at Master Jet Base NAS Oceana in 1963. Ergo the 25th was in 1988. We also have several zappers of this identical patch. So check out our zappers in this same section of the store. HURRY WHILE THEY LAST !!
