ITEM DESCRIPTION:
This collection has been completely revamped and expanded. Some titles from the original listing are now gone, but many new and interesting ones have been added.

On offer here is an extraordinary classical music collection – CDs, LPs, and books that would make a remarkable gift for a music lover, student, or conservatory. Most of the items are still-sealed and unplayed, though I have also included some used items that are of particularly interesting titles. This collection was built up over a period of 20 years. It's a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.

NOTE:

The photos provided are just a sampling. I had created a photo gallery for buyers to view all of the items, but eBay policy prevents me from including a link to that gallery. The photos you see in this listing are only part of the entire collection. If you have questions, I will do my very best to answer them.

A note on sticker shock:

Yes, the price is high. All I can say is that this is not a collection that was inherited from my father. It is my own collection, most items paid for at full-price upon their original issue and lovingly cared for. In addition, I am paying the shipping cost – this will involve anywhere from 10-15 large boxes with a total weight of over 500 lbs. It's a considerable expense. eBay and PayPal will also take their shares.

Yes, you might be able to find individual items more cheaply elsewhere. But for many of these items are extremely difficult to find, particularly in this condition. To spend the time searching for them all and paying separate shipping fees would easily exceed the total cost of this lot.

Roughly the lot consists of:

212 sealed LP titles totaling 270 LPs

79 sealed CD box sets totaling more than 1400 CDs

279 sealed CD titles totaling more than 380 CDs

176 books, including an early, and coveted, edition of the Grove Dictionary of Music

Among the highlights are sealed copies of the first two Chicago Symphony Orchestra box sets, as well as that of the Boston Symphony Orchestra, also sealed. There is a sealed copy of the Richter Authorized edition and an unplayed copy of the original Rubinstein Collection.

NOTESPLEASE READ CAREFULLY:

1) At the moment I am not open to offers on individual items. However, if someone is interested in buying all the CDs, but not the LPs or books, or something along those lines, then a negotiation is possible. However, such offers must involve a significant portion of the collection – e.g., all the CDs, or all the LPs, etc. and not just 3 titles here, and 2 titles there.

The books are probably the least valuable part of the collection. Although there are many out-of-print titles, most can be had on the second-hand market. This is not true of the CDs or LPs.

If purchased in its entirety, the collection would probably fill at least 15 large boxes (measuring 51 cm X 41 cm X 41 cm), each weighing approximately 20 kg. My guess is that the total weight will well exceed 500 lbs.

I will pay for shipping worldwide by UPS (5-10 business days delivery).

Anything faster than that, the buyer will have to pay the difference. The buyer must keep in mind that these delivery times are estimates and do not include time possibly spent in customs. I have no control over that nor does UPS or any other shipper.

I would prefer to insure the lot for full value, though I understand this could create customs problems for some customers. Thus, I am flexible on this point and I am certain a solution can be found agreeable to both parties

CD lots are quite common on eBay, of course, but I do believe this one to be quite special. All titles come from my personal collection and have been extremely well cared for.

There is a heavy emphasis on pianists and conductors, followed by chamber music and violinists. There is very little opera or vocal titles.

These are the original issues. There are no club copies or cut-outs in this lot. All CDs were made in the European Union, the USA, or Japan. All were purchased in the European Union, the USA, or Japan (online via HMV Japan).

There are absolutely no pirate copies, CD-R’s, or counterfeit CDs in the lot. Absolutely none.

All have been photographed and are described and graded. As eBay limits one to 12 photos, I have included only highlights.

CONDITION:

The gradations of condition I use are as follows: MINT, Near-Mint, Excellent, Very Good, Good, Fair, Poor.

Nearly all are in MINT condition – certainly that is the case with the sealed items. The books are some of the LPs and CDs are used, but are all in excellent condition.

PLEASE NOTE:
The images I've provided are of the actual item you are potentially bidding on - these are not stock images or images I've taken from other sites. Bid with confidence!

PAYMENT:
Payment must be made by PayPal. And payment must be made within 3 days of the listing's close.

FEEDBACK:
I will promptly leave feedback for all buyers. Please do not leave negative, or even neutral, feedback without first giving me an opportunity to resolve any dissatisfaction you might have with an item or transaction. I do understand that, on occasion, a buyer might believe the item description to be inaccurate or that a buyer may be disappointed in some other way regarding the sale. I promise I will do my very best to resolve any unhappiness you've experienced in your buying experience with me to your complete satisfaction. Thank you.

RETURNS / REFUNDS:
I am not accepting returns on this lot (nor refunds). This lot is simply too large (it will weigh in excess of 250 kg). It is described in great detail, with photos of every single item. There should be no doubts as to what one is buying or what one will receive. If you do have any questions, please feel free to write.

Please see my other classical LP, CD, and memorabilia auctions, and feel free to write with any questions, I'll be glad to help.
