You are bidding on the excellent British ensemble comedy Scenes Of A Sexual Nature. Featuring what has been called the 'dream cast of British films' Scenes focuses on the interactions between seemingly unconnected sets of couples on Hampstead Heath, the confusion and farce increasing as we find that they are not nearly so unconnected as we thought. Strong performances and a razor-sharp script propel the film. Some nice extras round out what is a very nice pickup for fans of intelligent romantic commedy. This DVD is brand new in shrinkwrap. Note that this is a Region 1 set & so may not initially play on some (usually older) players. There are plenty of fixes around for region code issues so if you are concerned please contact me & I'll advise. All of my DVDs are genuine, official releases.

Sex and love. Some seek it, some need it, some spurn it and some pay for it, but we’re all consumed by it. Set on one afternoon in Hampstead Heath, London, the film investigates the intimacies of seven couples: a divorcing couple discussing how they ever got together; a gay couple grappling with the decision to adopt; an old couple who realize they were once in love forty years ago; a young man making desperate attempts to get a young woman into bed; a happily married couple facing a dilemma; an awkward blind date between two forty-somethings; and one man who knows its all impossible and just prefers to pay for his affection.

A quiet day in a park in London. We’ve all been there in one way or another, in a park, in a mall, in any open place where there are other people around. You watch, you imagine what they might be saying to each other. It’s a great pastime, and Scenes of a Sexual Nature is that kind of observation taken a step further.

The film is a series of snapshots of different couples. These vignettes overlap, they are presented out of order; everything seems to be taking place at the same time. We have the older couple meting on the park bench, another couple that seems to meet randomly, until we find out that they are married. There is the gay couple, one who wants to adopt a child and open up their relationship and the other who wants to remain monogamous and has no interest in children. Each couple is like a fragment of a collective consciousness.

Scenes of a Sexual Nature has the feel of a filmed play. The park is the one location in the entire film, and we move from group to group, relationship to relationship. The writing is sharp. The performances are strong and bring the script to life, but the writing just crackles; the dialogue is excellent. This isn’t the most cinematic film you’re likely to see anytime soon, but it’s easily one of the most compelling.

'Free Postage': Note that there is no such thing as 'Free Postage'. This is a money grab by EBay as they gain a percentage of money from the seller which in fact is paid to the post office rather than the seller. I have listed this as free postage in order to comply with their policies but in fact this actually costs you more than those listings which list postage charges separately since postage and EBay's cut of it must be figured into the purchase price of the item and also prevents you from gaining full advantage from pick ups or combined purchases. I have attempted to minimise the negative impact on you of their policies by listing charges which still allow a discount for such things but cover Ebay's charges which remain payable regardless of the discount offered.

Shipping: All postage charged by us (either openly or hidden in 'free postage') is based on actual Australia Post costs plus EBay charges and $2 for handling & materials for each package sent (see combined postage below). If you require registered post add $3.50 to the listed rates - I recommend that you do this as I am not responsible for the actions of the Post Office & by bidding you are agreeing that I am not liable for items lost or damaged in shipping. You should wait for me to invoice you should you require registered post or special arrangements. Overseas bidders should contact me for rates. If you wish to pick up the goods (from Katoomba, NSW) rather than pay for shipping please let me know & it can be arranged, there is a discount for this as listed above and this is equal to the 'free postage' factored into the item price minus a $1 deduction thanks to EBay charges so long as I don't have to make any particularly special arrangements - if I do then the discount is $2 less than listed. Since postage charges can vary according to location, how good a mood the Post Office Clerk is in when weighing the item etc, if it turns out that cost was significantly lower than I charged, I will refund the difference.

Combined Postage: At the bottom of the item description I list the approximate weight of the item for sale & also the capacity of the envelope/post pack etc on which I've based my postage charges. As noted above I charge a per package handling fee, not per item. If you win multiple items & they will all fit into the listed envelope then that is exactly the amount you will pay for shipping - e.g. if the first item won is listed as 1kg & I am sending it in a 3kg envelope then you know that you can safely bid on another 1.5 kg or so without having to pay the listed postage cost of those items. Of course if I have to get a larger than quoted envelope you will pay the cost of that plus the EBay charges and $2 handling fee. Remember that the weights listed are approximate & that packaging/bubble wrap etc can add considerably to the weight of the package and also that the size of the item might well be more important than its weight as well. Thanks to EBay policies it is not transparent how much you will save through combined postage. Please wait for me to invoice you with a reduced price as otherwise you might be paying heaps more than you have to. Note that it is cheaper to send two single standard size DVDs separately than to combine them but other than that case, most items will be cheaper if combined. Items must be paid for and/or email contact made within three days of purchase or the item will be offered to the next highest bidder or relisted. Refunds are generally not given on shrink-wrapped items which have been opened & are otherwise only given in cases where the item description is incorrect - postage costs will not usually be refunded..
