This lens cleaner is a great way of maintaining the laser pickup in game consoles and components that play discs. It's the accessory everyone should own and use regularly but never does. By the time someone thinks to use this in their machine it's often too late and the damage is done.
It comes with a bottle of cleaning fluid but it can be used wet or dry. The liquid will help to remove any tough residue on the lens. Just put a drop or two on the brushes, let it spin in your machine for a few seconds and you're done. Dry is OK for regular maintenance.
If you're never cleaned your machine this is a good insurance policy that helps prevent problems. Especially in dusty and smokey environments, or where there is pet hair.
If your machine no longer reads discs, this may help. Not always but it's worth a try. It's a lot cheaper than a repair bill and sometimes will magically bring an old dirty machine back to life.
We use these in our own shop and have had very good luck. It's always a good feeling when something this inexpensive solves a problem. But what's better, is preventing one in the first place.
Just a single cleaner is good for multiple uses in all types of machines. But take note: The retail package does NOT specify blu-ray. However we have used this in hundreds of blu-ray, CD & DVD players and it works well.
Note from our service technician:This is a good lens cleaner made but personally speaking any instructions on the disc are useless. Simply put a drop of fluid on the brush, pop it in your machine, wait a few seconds, then remove it. You're done. The disc spins automatically when inserted and the laser is cleaned. Many machines won't read a disc with brushes. You don't need the disc to tell you anything. Use about once a month to keep your machine clean. Service shops often charge five bucks for a "quick clean" of players and simply use this type of lens cleaner. You could do the same thing (don't tell anyone).
