The manual tensioner replaces the automatic and hydraulic tensioners on your motor. Automatic adjusters can lose tension when the throttle is closed suddenly at high rpm's or revved quickly. The slop in chain tension can allows the cams to go momentarily out of time, and can cause bent valves or serious engine damage. Hydraulic tensioners have a tendency to put too much tension on the chain guide under high rpm/high oil pressure conditions, resulting in premature wear. Both problems can be eliminated with the installation of a high quality, high performance manual tensioner. With the jamb nut locked on the tensioner bolt, regardless of what the engine does, the cam chain tension will remain constant. A Manual cam chain tensioner is a MUST for any kind of performance riding. Keep your motor happy and maintain 1/4"-3/8" deflection in your cam chain consistently with a reliable performance chain tensioner. These manual tensioners are CNC machined from billet alloy to exact tolerances for perfect fit.
