From WWII to the Lebanese Civil war, the American Battleship New Jersey served with distinction. Over that nearly sixty-year history, New Jersey underwent numerous refits. In 1982, several of the ship's anti-aircraft turrets were replaced with missile batteries for destroying both land and sea targets. No matter where it went or when, the New Jersey's mission was always the same and is enshrined in its motto: Firepower For Freedom.
