A 1.5 Metre length of NiChrome Wire

60% Nickel 15% Chromium 25% Iron

6.83 Ohms per Metre.

26WG

0.457 mm 0.018” Diameter

This wire can be used for Amp meter shunts and wire wound resistors.

It is very corrosion resistant and will work at up to 1100C

We can supply it any length but if you are buying more than one lot and need a continuous length you must add a note when paying.

This wire should not be used at high Voltages like 220V because of the danger to life and the wire would melt anyway.
There is no particular Voltage that this wire is used at,
the temperature of the wire will vary with length and the Voltage applied.
Long wire and low Voltage = low temperature
Short wire and high Voltage = High temperature
If eperimenting always start with a long wire and low Voltage. If you do it the other way the wire can melt and burn you.
Any low Voltage supply can be used, but the longer the wire you use the higher the Voltage will need to be to get it to the temperature you need.
If you need to use a fied length of wire then you will need to vary the Voltage to get the correct temperature.
If you only have a fied Voltage (12 Volts for eample) then connect the full length of 1.5 Metres.
It will take about 1 Amp and will not get very hot (about 70C)
If you then slowly shorten the wire the temperature will increase and so will the current.
