DO NOT BE INTIMIDATED! Tuner restoration is NOT the terrible chore one may think it is. This kit provides the BASIC FOUNDATION for good tuner operation and is EXTREMELY beneficial for any tuner that is mostly functional and in need of being refreshed and upgraded.

At this point in time, all vintage audio gear regardless of manufacture would benefit from some type of upgrading, and certainly a checkup before use is a definite requirement for safety and performance reasons. All models have their specific overhaul guidelines.

As these tube sets age, ALL of the small electrolytics develope some leakage and other age related problems. The original mylar signal caps are now fragile and leaky after 40++ years of heat and torture.

Our RESTO-PAKS contain the finest quality modern replacement components available today. Included are ALL required resistors and small electrolytic capacitors as well as ALL signal and coupling capacitors that normally fail. Your tired old selenium rectifier will be replaced with a New super heavy duty silicon full wave power supply. VERY detailed instructions are included. Your tuner will SPRING to life! Approximately 38 individual components are included for installation/replacement! Yes it will take some time, however, it is a very thorough process.

 Also included are the very important specific resistors and parts required to correct the FM De-emphasis. FM De-emphasis, which directly determines the degree of high frequencies the tuner will reproduce, is 75us (microseconds) which has always been the North American standard.

ALL Fisher MULTIPLEX stereo tube receivers and tuners employ excessive De-emphasis and are therefore NOT accurately de-emphasizing the FM audio. The result is a loss of natural highs due to the attenuation of the audio high frequency response in Mono and Stereo.

Once corrected (a simple change of a few components which are included in EVERY RESTO-PAK) the result is astounding. In fact, we include 1% precision resistors for this application to ensure that extremely accurate De-emphasis is achieved and maintained.

Europe and most other areas of the world use a de-emphasis of 50us. We can modify the Resto-Pak for the European Standard of 50us at no extra charge!

Advanced, high value output coupling capacitors are provided which will greatly enhance low frequency coupling to ANY preamp and enable use with a solid state preamp without the usual loss of bass frequencies.

The FM-1000 FMR-1 is a top notch tube tuner, the best ever made. It is a top of the line instrument meant for the serious audio connoisseur. Its legendary performance is well known among knowledgeable collectors. This will be a VERY rewarding project for you and your tuner!

Our package includes a nice enlarged copy of the original owners manual, the CORRECT service manual for your specific unit (determined by the serial number), and our detailed restoration procedure covering everything except alignment (which is covered in the service manual, however, test equipment is needed).

This procedure allows the rebuilder to correct all weak spots in the unit. All capacitors, resistors, and other parts that must be changed in the entire set are CLEARLYnoted in the manuals. In all you will be changing over 35 components!

Also included are very detailed instructions on SAFELY cleaning the dial glass without damaging the delicate screening, and cleaning the face panel and chassis - there are even notes on effective soldering technique and general safety issues.
