JS50 cover produced to commemorate the 50th Anniversary of Operation Compass in the Western Desert December 1940 - February 1941. Cover depicts 16th & 17th Brigades assault on Bardia., the 6th Australian Division beginning the attack on Tobruck, 7th armoured division at Nibeiwa and 19th Australian armoured division at Nibeiwa. Cover bears 17p defin stamp cancelled with BFPS 2239 for the 50th Anniversary of Operation Compass. Cover has been flown from RAF Lyneham in Hercules to Akrotiri and on to Bahrain as part of the Hercules airlift in support of British Forces engaged on operation Desert Storm in the Gulf
