JIC 37 degree flare fittings form a metal on metal seal on a 37 degree cone. Thread pitch is the same as SAE 45 degree flare in most sizes and some female assemblies have a dual 37/45 degree seat for this purpose. Size 6 and size 12 do not cross over.

Also referred to as Whitworth threads, the BSP thread type fittings seal on a metal to metal angled surface or a combination of metal to metal and an o-ring. The Angle of the sealing surfaces is 60° for both forms. There are two popular thread forms: British Standard Pipe Parallel (BSPP) and British Standard Pipe Tapered (BSPT). Also sometimes refered to as "G" fittings they share the same thread size and pitch as JIS (Japanese Industrail Standard). In some instances BSPP can be used interchangably with JIS when you place a 9999- dual cone adapter between the two fittings.
