Listed for auction are the autographs of French aviation pioneers Dieudonne Costes and Maurice Bellonte. Dieudonne Costes [1892 1973] was an Early Bird French pioneer of aviation who began his aviation career in 1912. During World War I he served in the French Air Service in the MF85 Farman squadron and the N531 fighter Nieuport squadron on the Balkan front and was credited with 8 aerial victories and ended the war as a 2nd Lieutentant. After the war he flew as a mail pilot and in 1925 he became a test pilot for Brequet and began flying long-distance and record breaking flights with Brequet aircraft which includes his record flight with Maurice Bellonte, the first westbound transatlantic flight [New York to Paris] in 1930. Maurice Bellonte [1896 1983] was a French aviation pioneer who on September 1, 1930 accompained with Dieudonne Costes flew a Brequet 19 airplane from Paris to New York, as the first aircraft to cross the North Atlantic in the more difficult westbound direction from Europe to the United States. The flight covered 3,850 miles and took 37 hours and 18 minutes to complete. Listed for auction are the autographs of Dieudonne Costes and Maurice Bellonte signed on a air mail covers. The autographs are signed as follows, ''D. Costes'' and ''M. Bellonte'' and the envelope measures 6.50 x 3.50 inches and are in fine condition. The autographs are authentic and are nice examples of these noted French aviation pioneers.
