For sale here is 1950's Claud Butler frame and forks, just repainted in beautiful metallic purple with lilac head tube and seat tube panel. The Nervex head lugs are in contrasting purple paint, the forks, seat stays and chain stays are finished in a special chrome paint. The seat lug and bracket are gold lug lined.
I grew up in the 1960's in Brixton South London, within a mile radius of three of the worlds finest frame builders. The first was Don Louis of Herne Hill cycles who specialised in track frames for Herne Hill track. The second was A S Gillot of Southampton Way, Camberwell and the third and most famous of all was Claud Butler whose works were in Clapham Manor Street.

This is an extract from Classic Lightweights 'Claud Butler established an important and endearing legacy. Some of Britain's most celebrated artisan frame builders either began their careers or spent time sweating over a gas torch and fire bricks at Claud's Clapham Manor Street works shop just either side of the war. The role of honour includes such exalted names as: Purves, Ephgrave, Morris, Skeats and Hurlow.' (end of extract)

The Claud Butler frame is in mint condition, has all original fitments and fittings, including pump pegs, full set of cable guides and eyes and mudguard eyes. There are no dents or damage to the tubing and the bracket threads are fine.
The frame is 23 inches centre to top. Head badge is included but is not attached to the frame. The Claud Butler transfers are exact copies of the originals and look great.
