"Liuli" means ancient Chinese glass/crystal. It has a lineage stretching back thousands of years, first making its appearance in the 11th century BC. The art of Liuli left an indelible trail throughout Chinese history until the 19th century when China opened its door to imported goods, and effectively stifled traditional artisan skills.

The discovery in 1968 of the tomb of Liu Shun, a nobleman from Man-Chung County in Hopei Province, unearthed the earliest recorded example of pate-de-verre. A glass ear cup was found behind the renowned "jade suit with gold thread." Archaeologists confirmed the glass material was of Chinese origin, indicating the pate-de-verre technique was indeed indigenous to China. This revelation was astounding and engendered in the group of artists a profound sense of mission to revive the artistry embedded in their own ancestry.

The creation of Chinese Liuli Jewelry is different from the processes for most modern day glass. For tableware or jewelry, glass blowing is favored since one re-useable mold can be employed. Liuli creation uses a type of kiln casting method sometimes referred to as a “lost-wax” technique that uses finely powdered glass mixed with a binding substance, colorants, and lead. Depending on the mold used, solid or semi-hollow shapes are achievable.

Like other types of crystal glass, Liuli normally possess high lead content that gives Liuli its characteristic weight, shine, and sound when clinked together.

This method of glass creation is notoriously difficult due to a number of factors including the instability of the molds used and the high firing temperatures needed to meld the glass paste into solid form. The method each artisan and studio uses differs slightly, but most require a total of 10-16 steps to complete a single piece

Water Resistance markings  on watches are often not explained to consumers in the correct manner. Even with charts and data found in most watch guarantees ,they are often never read.


A watch bearing a 30 meter water resistance mark does not mean that the watch is suitable for swimming. Most of these tests carried out on watches are static tests, which means that the watch is not being moved in the water test / pressure test , moving a watch in water creates a lot more pressure on the watch .


Below is a chart to explain what watches you need to purchase for actual swimming and diving.
 

Water Resistant 3 ATM or 30 m     Suitable for everyday use. Splash/rain resistant. NOT suitable for showering, bathing, swimming, snorkelling, water related work and fishing.     NOT suitable for diving.

Water Resistant 5 ATM or 50 m     Suitable for swimming, white water rafting, non-snorkeling water related work, and fishing.     NOT suitable for diving.


Water Resistant 10 ATM or 100 m     Suitable for recreational surfing, swimming, snorkeling, sailing and water sports.     NOT suitable for diving.


Water Resistant 20 ATM or 200 m     Suitable for professional marine activity, serious surface water sports and skin diving.     Suitable for skin diving.


Diver's 100 m     Minimum ISO standard (ISO 6425) for scuba diving at depths NOT suitable for saturation diving.     Diver's 100 m and 150 m watches are generally old(er) watches.


Diver's 200 m or 300 m     Suitable for scuba diving at depths NOT suitable for saturation diving.     Typical ratings for contemporary diver's watches.


Diver's 300+ m for mixed-gas diving     Suitable for saturation diving (helium enriched environment).     Watches designed for mixed-gas diving will have the DIVER?S WATCH L M FOR MIXED-GAS DIVING additional marking to point this out.



Also note that Watch water resistance is not a permanent feature of any watch , seals deteriorate and watches have to be resealed when new batteries are fitted to maintain watch water resistance.   


Also the operation of any watch buttons under water should be avoided as any seals will be broken under these conditions thus invalidating any guarantee you might have.
