Up for auction is a nice antique Ball Ideal quart canning jar. It's a #6 and has a July 14, 1908 patent. The wire bail (metal clamp) works fine and secures the lid to the jar nicely.
I used this jar for decorating, sometimes filling it with seasonal trinkets, sewing buttons, etc. Would make a great addition to your primitive collection or kitchen decor.
Note: the jar lid is clear glass, not blue. I imagine back in the old days of canning, lids got interchanged.
