I purchased this microphone new in 1999 in San Francisco, for around a $1000 if I recall correctly.

Then I sold it to my dad and he used it like five years, so the microphone was in a light smoking environment for five years.  There is a subtle hint of smoke smell if you put nose close to mic.  I imagine over the years the scent will keep fading away.  This doesn't seem to affect the sound at all.

Cosmetically you can tell the mic was well taken care of.  However, there are these little bumps underneath the paint -- see photos.  After talking to some others on Gearslutz, they said this is from the foam piece that the mic is stored in inside the case.  The foam deteriorates and releases a gas that causes the bumps on the metal.   However, this isn't supposed to affect the condensors.

I have a 14 day return policy, if you aren't satisfied with the mic you can return it.

It comes with the original case, but I recently threw away the deteriorating foam guard for the mic as it was damaging the finish (bumps).  It comes with the shock absorber and two strings but I don't know how to put it back together.  There are videos and other resources online that instruct one how to reassemble the shock mount.  Perhaps two new elastic bands might need to be ordered for it as these two seemed pretty stretched out -- but I don't know for sure.

I've been told these older C414 BULS mics sound better than the more recent ones.
